2017 Topps Series 1 was released on February 1, 2017. The base set has 30 rookies included. The variations available for these rookies cards included: Rainbow Foil (1:10 packs), Gold (#/2017), Vintage Stock (#/99), Black (#/66-Hobby/Jumbo only), Mother’s Day Hot Pink (#/50), Father’s Day Powder Blue (#/50), Memorial Day Camo (#/25), Clear (#/10-Hobby only), Negative (Hobby/Jumbo only), Platinum (1/1) and Printing Plates (1/1). Also the this set includes Super Short Print (SSP) picture variation of six of the thirty rookies. At the time of release the key rookies of note were, Dansby Swanson, the first pick in the 2015 MLB Draft and the second pick, Alex Bregman. Yoan Moncada was also mentioned in this set as he was a key piece in the Chris Sale trade to Boston that off season. Others of note included Jose De Leon, Andrew Benintendi, Alex Reyes and David Dahl.
